This 18-hole, 72 par championship golf course was voted as one of South Africa’s top five golf courses in 2003. The course was designed by Matkovich and Hayes, and has already been unofficially rated in the top 5 in South Africa by golf scribes.
The course is 6,095 metres in length and has a rating of 72. It borders the largest natural lagoon in Southern Africa, and the 18th runs parallel to the lagoon. The clubhouse at the hotel is considered to be one of the most luxurious and modern in the country.

The Bot River lagoon and surrounding mountains are a haven for more than 130 bird species, some of which are extremely rare. Much of the birdlife can be watched from the verandah's of the hotel. The wide lagoon and estuary forming one boundary of Arabella Country Estate is home to the greater and lesser flamingo, the rare white pelican, darters, spoonbills, grey herons, crakes and egrets, to name a few.

One of the best ways to explore the natural beauty of the estate and surrounding nature reserve is on foot. Take a stroll past all of the indigenous flowers and experience the lagoon and mountain at its best. Feel free to explore and picnic in the surrounding area that is signposted fro your convenience. The legendary wild horses that roam free in the wetlands between Kleinmond and the Bot River lagoon are unique to this area. To catch a glimpse of these mystical creatures, walk along the beach towards Fisherhaven and climb the dunes until you see the vlei where they roam.
